Donostia-San Sebastian Open 2010

During the live event you will have extended chess-clock information including a pondering time which is a running estimate of the time spent contemplating the next move. I believe this innovative new feature will enhance the experience by making the heat of the battle more vivid. I love it and I hope that one day other live coverage Web sites will implement similar functionality in their software. Until then you can always come back and enjoy it with me.

The tournament schedule and the original live broadcast can be found here.

The most observant visitors must have noticed a very pleasant surprise in today’s relay. At one point during the live broadcast (of round 8) the official server completely lost one of the games (Alsina Leal, Daniel vs. Movsziszian, Karen). Even now, many hours after the round ended, the game is still NOT available on the official site.
On the contrary, the “TFD Proxy” live relay (above) never lost track and kept showing the game in question up until the very last move (which was officially available).
What a powerful demonstration of software reliability in a field where it’s been long overdue.
